Friday November 6th will see the release of Jorge's first single as a solo artist, since Bruja has been on hiatus since March, due to Covid-19. The band played its last public show on March 8th, and unfortunately, has not been able to continue playing shows due to health concerns regarding the Covid-19 virus. "We just don't see people out there being as careful as we'd like them to be when they are attending a live performance", says Jorge. "Some of us have elderly family members, or children that we are worried about, and we have to do what's best for our families right now."
The single “I Can’t Breathe” will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other streaming platforms, and it's a direct protest to the unjust murder of George Floyd, and other black people who have suffered and lost their lives due to police brutality. "I’ve never chosen to be political in my songwriting, but with the state of the world today, I feel I don't have a choice. I feel a certain duty to use my voice and my talent to bring attention to the systemic racism in this country. It has been coming for a long time. The death of Corey Jones back in 2015 really shook me up. I know Bo, lead singer and guitarist of Future Presidents, who Corey was drumming for at the time. Bo was amazingly outspoken, and He and his band mates even set up their instruments in from to City Hall, and rattled the cages of the status quo, and I really respected that. The music community here in Palm Beach County is pretty close, and I've gotten to know a lotta really amazing people and musicians over the last 6 years, and when I heard the news about Corey it really shook me to the core, even though I had never personally met him. It could have been anyone of us in Corey's place, stuck on the road, in the middle of the night, coming home from a show, just waiting for a tow truck, when things spun out of control because of one rogue cop who chose to forego proper procedure, and failed to identify himself as a police officer. Then it was Eric Garner, and others who also died at the hands of police brutality. Then it was George Floyd. I swear when I saw that video, my stomach turned. That man was pleading for his mother, knowing full well they were trying to kill him. That was the last straw for me. I knew I had to say something; do something, so I decided to write a song about it, and voice my opinion."

Let's stand together against systemic racism all over the world, and show that the power of love can overcome a corrupt and unjust system.
